About the Author

Western Author Bob Turpin feels that the Old West and our frontier history are very important times in our lives and he works hard to preserve the history, lore, cultural expressions, and the people of that era. He doesn't want our history and the deeds of our forefathers lost in the present or the future. For your reading pleasure and information, Turpin works hard to bring you stories and adventures of the 1880's and 1890's, and the founding of this great country.

Robert F. (Bob) Turpin has been a writer of historical fiction for over 20 years. He published "Oklahoma's Buried Millions" followed by two small books, "Treasure Hunt 1" and "Treasure Hunt 2," and hundreds of articles and short stories in western and treasure hunting magazines. His most recent book releases are, "Ghosts, Legends, and Folk Tales of the Old West," published in July, 2010, and "Rascals, Rogues, & Scalawags of the Old West" published in December, 2010.

Currently Turpin is working on a full-length fiction novel entitled "Stormwalker" for your additional reading pleasure. It is a tale of never-ending love, terrible rage, and bloody revenge, engulfed in a thunderstorm of action that will leave you gripping the edges of your chairs. The Wild West comes alive in vivid detail in deeds and daring seldom found in western novels.

About the Book

The violent history and myths of western lawlessness burns through the pages of Hot Lead and Cold Steel. Both legendary and forgotten outlaws come alive with wild tempers and fast guns dealing out sudden death. They left trails of blood and carnage throughout the old west, from the boom towns to cattle towns where stagecoach and railroad routes made their lawless work prime pickings.

You can actually imagine the smell of gun smoke and feel the painful vibration of dying as you read this book. The stories in it are fast-paced action taking place in the old west during the 1880's-1890's, and portray in true form the violence and blood thirsty happenings of well-known and unheard of gunfighters, killers, bandits, and cold-blooded outlaws who left trails of blood and carnage throughout the Old West. They were the scourge of the plains and merchants of death, men and women, from all walks of life coming from dirt-poor families or good homes and wealth. Read about their ruthless beginnings, unholy deeds, daring, and often unexpected demise.

To this colorful background of western frontier history came the likes of Mose Miller, Wesley Barnett, Bob
Rogers, notorious Indian outlaws, the Marlow Brothers,
and others.

Of course, where you had outlaw killers, you had outlaw hunters, men like Preacher Burk, J. H. Mershon, Steve Venard, Alfred Victor, and other noted lawmen.

Their incredible stories are based on fascinating true facts which are vividly recreated by the author. The information is researched and garnered from old newspapers, court records, files from Wells Fargo and the Pinkerton Agency, and other reliable sources pertaining to our Western History.
